Spring Has Sprung!

Spring is here in Georgia, and it’s my FAVORITE season. Spring green is abounding. Trees are blooming. Colors are bursting forth throughout this part of the world. It’s amazing and beautiful even if the pollen is ever increasing.
It’s not ironic that it’s a new season in my life as well. I’m old enough to have experienced many seasons in life - school, marriage, having babies, raising children, empty nester, seasons of jobs, and seasons of staying home. Here it is; time is upon me for a new season. This season began for me during Covid; but as with everyone else, Covid made it look a lot different. It appears that we may be coming out of our Covid hibernation so that’s a new season for all of us.
The word “zoé” has been rolling around in my head along with the idea of new seasons. The word came up in the sermon last week. As I was praying for my day, I began praying for a ministry I have become involved in called Dunamis, which rescues girls in Ecuador from sex trafficing. The girl’s house is called Zoé’s House. Zoé means life both physically and spiritually.
For me the springtime brings life. It’s a definite physical life, but I feel renewed in the spring like I have life blooming within me too. It’s the idea of starting fresh, beginning anew, growing, and blooming.
During the hibernation I began a few things and ended a few things. Usually, I would ask God, what are we doing, where are we going, how long will it take until we’re there, how long will we be there, what’s the step after that? Sounds a lot like the questions my kids asked when going on a trip.
In the past seasons, I thought I knew most of the answers to those questions, but God’s answers were usually much different than mine. I’m reminded of Henri Nouwen’s quote, “You can’t see the whole path ahead, but there’s usually enough light to take the next step.”
So, I’m approaching this season with lots of hope and prayer in each step.
Are you feeling this "zoé"? Does this spring season, with the hope that life may be opening up a bit more, feel renewing and fresh? I pray it does for you. If you’d like to feel encouraged in this season, I invite you to some opportunities on our property to help you feel renewed and refreshed. Learn about these opportunities here. I’d love to see you!
